Hiriketiya Bay is the hottest surf spot in South Asia right now — a perfect horseshoe-shaped bay with a beginner left and a punchy reef right. Dickwella Resort is the closest 5-star to it, perched on the clifftop above.
If you've surfed Byron, Crescent Head, or Bells, you'll feel right at home — except the water is 28°C, the breaks are uncrowded by 7am, and a board hire costs $15 a day. Hiri is a 10-minute hotel tuk-tuk; the staff will sort lessons.
Back at the resort, three pools cascade down the cliffside. The infinity pool sits on the very edge — you do laps with the Indian Ocean as the horizon. There's a daily sunrise yoga session in the cliff pavilion and a proper gym for when you want to lift.
The spa has the best ocean-view treatment rooms in the Browns portfolio. Sound of waves, breeze through the louvres, full silence otherwise.
Five minutes the other way is Dickwella's secret tucked beach for sunset swims. Twenty minutes is Mirissa — note whale-watching season runs outside the TFS Loyalty redemption window.
TFS Loyalty redemption stays are available May–October only. June–September brings consistent south coast swell for intermediate surfers; book Dickwella 3 months out as it's a member favourite.
